AntiVir UNIX MailGate


AntiVir MailGate protects your email server running Linux against viruses. It is compatible with a wide range of popular Mail Transport Agents (MTA), runs at a high speed, is easily configurable and checks incoming and outgoing emails. It is a store-and-forward agent, with the two programs AVgated and AVgatefwd sharing the work.

AVgated receives emails and saves them to a specific directory. The program can run as an independent server occupying port 25 (SMTP), or it can be started from the inetd Internet Super Demon. AVgatefwd reads the stored emails, decodes possible attachments and starts the scanning process. If the email is virus-free it is forwarded immediately.
